Six Minute Sabbath: Nothing is Wasted

This song has touched my heart this week. I pray it touches yours too.

Nothing is Wasted

The hurt that broke your heart
And left you trembling in the dark
Feeling lost and alone
Will tell you hope’s a lie
But what if every tear you cry
Will seed the ground where joy will grow

And nothing is wasted
Nothing is wasted
In the hands of our Redeemer
Nothing is wasted

It’s from the deepest wounds
That beauty finds a place to bloom
And you will see before the end
That every broken piece is
Gathered in the heart of Jesus
And what’s lost will be found again

Nothing is wasted
Nothing is wasted
In the hands of our Redeemer
Nothing is wasted

From the ruins
From the ashes
Beauty will rise
From the wreckage
From the darkness
Glory will shine
Glory will shine

Nothing is wasted

Six Minute Sabbath: If We Could Flashmob Boston

If we could flashmob you for six minutes Boston — gather from the far corners of the world to stand together and sing over you –this would be our music, our offering of joy:

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,

God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee,
Opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Wellspring of the joy of living,
Ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother,
All who live in love are Thine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
Father love is reigning o’er us,
Brother love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us Sunward
In the triumph song of life.

Linda CrawfordLord, may we join the happy chorus, for we are brothers in love, victors in the midst of strife, and we march onward singing the triumph song of life!

Six Minute Sabbath: Pushing Back the Dark

You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a lightstand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a lightstand—shine!  Matthew 5:16 MSG

Let your light shine!
Let’s push back the dark today!

Six Minute Sabbath: You Are Beautiful

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

There were days past when I would criticize every little thing about myself.

My nose was too big, my freckles too many, my clothes too frumpy, my voice too soft.

Nothing I did ever seemed to be good enough . . . for me.

I never felt beautiful.

I constantly bemoaned my imperfections, until the day my husband stopped me, looked me in the eyes and said . . .

“Who are you to curse what God has deemed beautiful?”

Ouch.

I realized God knew far better than I did what was beautiful . . . and He said I was.

Beautiful.

And so are you. 🙂

Six Minute Sabbath: LOVE is…

Six minutes meditating on the beauty of LOVE today…

So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

1 Cor 13:3-7 MSG

LOVE is…

Six Minute Sabbath: A Friendship Story

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV

It’s Six Minute Sabbath. . . well, actually, it’s a seven minutes and fifty-two seconds sabbath.

That’s how long it takes to share this story.

The story of two friends sharing the light on a very dark morning:

Share the light.

Somebody you know needs it today.
